Question
- Why is it a bad idea for a Super Admin to create a global Control Ratings dashboard?
- Why is there an error when creating a control ratings dashboard from an import file?
Answer
Importing a Control Ratings Dashboard
On the Source account, where the dashboard is created, the Methodology has specific control metrics, such as Design and Performance.
If importing to a target account that does not use the same metrics, the import fails with an error.
If importing to the Global account as Super Admin, since there are no assessment units on the global account and there are no methodologies to reference for the control metrics, the import fails with an error.
This can happen in more than one place (2 that we know of):
-
If the Graph, Chart, or Table uses a field referencing a control metric to display a column.
-
The Dashboard created a Federated Query, combining other data sources and including the fields that are not available in the target.
There is no fix for this.
If wanting to create a control ratings dashboard by uploading a file exported from another company account, we recommend looking at items 1 and 2 above and ensuring they are not used in the chart or queries unless you know they will exist in the target company.
Creating a Global Control Ratings Dashboard
Super Admin should not create global Control Rating dashboards that reference control metrics.
Not all accounts use the same control metrics in their methodologies, and as a result, the global dashboard will fail with an error on accounts where the control metrics are different.
